About

I am a specialist in relationship marketing and help individuals and companies develop their business, beyond networking meetings in order to create on going stream of qualified, profitable referrals.

Inherently, I am a practical, no nonsense sales and marketing guy with a good eye for opportunity and a supportive nature. This has helped me provide measurable added value to business’s, from start up, SME and corporate.

“Smart, aware, generous, thoughtful, progressive.  A powerful listener.  Articulate and careful.  Highly recommended on first impression.”  says Thomas Power  (Founder of Ecademy)

I run a successful BNI Region and have been involved with the world’s largest referral organisation for over 8 years.  Separately I  conduct workshops and seminars on relationship, referral and follow up marketing and especially the practical integration of on and offline networking.   I am a Black Star member of Ecademy – business and social networking site.

“Paul is a very kind and generous person with a lot of knowledge in his field. A great asset to anyone’s network.”  Rebecca Hollis

Childhood: My mother was from Dublin and my father from Accrington where I was introduced to football in the form of Accrington Stanley. I was brought up in Manchester in the grand sounding suburb of Chorlton-Cum-Hardy. It had seen better days but I didn’t know that. I loved Manchester and still do. I used to deliver newspapers to Sir Matt Busby and I remember the day I returned home from school to learn of the Munich air crash. I cried for them all, especially Duncan Edwards. Duncan was my hero and we had one thing in common. Like Duncan, I could score goals with either foot but not as well as he did! However, I was also taken to Maine Road, to watch Manchester City where my hero was Bert Trautmann, one of the best goalkeepers ever. My mother’s cousin, Billy Walsh used to play for Man City and Ireland, just after the war. We have always been spoilt for good football teams in the North West.

Early Career:  At 16 I left Didsbury High School for Boys, joined the police force for 3 years and finally found sales, as a junior salesman for Wella calling on ladies hairdressing salons in the North West. Yes, they paid me to chat to girls all day. Positions held: Salesman, Area Sales Manager, National Sales Manager, Marketing Manager, General Manager inc. retail division. Also UK General Manager for Redken, now a subsidiary of L’oreal.

After Corporate: Marketing Consultant for several years in the early nineties with clients including Vidal Sassoon, Kimberley Clark, Ferrosan (Nutrition) Tisserand, St. Tropez, Schwartzkopf to name a few. QVC guest presenter for several months following a successful introduction to the buying team.

“Paul is a notable expert on referral generation” says Maurice Poole

I married one of the most beautiful women I have ever met and have two very special sons who are in their thirties.  I now live on my own in Somerset, enjoy cooking, photography, love to write and to listen to music from jazz to classics, opera to blues.  I recently noticed that I have over 30 days of music on my ipod.   Not surprisingly, I don’t watch television and take an active interest in personal development, buddhist meditation and all things creative on my Apple Mac.   I have been actively using social media since 2005.
